Schooner has all the desirable traits that a Connemara sport pony should have. A small regal head set on a long neck with a kind eye and small ears. He is courageous and intelligent with undeniable show ring presence. He is an athletic riding type pony with very balanced conformation, a huge flowing stride, consistent pace, and excellent form over fences. Schooner was inspected and approved by the American Warmblood Registry/American Sport Pony Registry in 2002. His type, movement, and jumping ability were awarded very high marks placing him a first premium breeding stallion as well as the overall inspection site Champion.Schooner comes from a long line of successful show ponies on both the top and bottom of his pedigree. His dam, Hideaway Greystone's Covergirl, won the prestigious American Connemara Pony Society Hall of Fame Broodmare Award in 2001. Her outstanding produce includes Seaborne's Flagship (preliminary level eventer), Seaborne's Navigator (nationally rated Large Pony Hunter), and Ballywhim Jacqueline (Large Pony Hunter and successful broodmare).Schooner began his show career in 1996 as a yearling, winning the American Connemara Pony Society's Region III Yearling Futurity as well as the one and two year old purebred colts class. He returned in 1998 and won the Futurity Graduates In Hand Class and in 1999 began his under saddle career scoring high marks in Dressage/Combined Training at Beginner Novice and Training Level with limited showing. He has shown his athletic jumping ability in the show ring winning the 2003 Bryan Jones Adult Equitation Finals and earning ribbons in the Adult Amateur Hunters with rider Lauren Hill against horses. Schooner's ability to pass on his lovely movement, temperament, and "presence" was proven with his first crop of foals from both purebred Connemara and Thoroughbred mares.
